Clean room, excellent staff, large room, high end amenities, great location to visit Matsumoto castle.
The cleanliness and condition of the Japanese style room was excellent with separate entrance, washroom, toilet and 3 tatami areas giving more than ample space for 3 guests.
Breakfast was good and the staff efficient and helpful.
Didn’t try the onsen as just a brief stop
We only stayed in this hotel for 1 night so we could visit Matsumoto Castle and the location was perfect because the hotel was only a 5 mins walk from the castle. The room was clean and the bed and pillows were comfy. I would stay here again for sure.
Such a beautiful place to stay!
Our room was gorgeous, the staff were lovely and always willing to make our stay special.
Absolutely one of the highlights of our trip!
This was a lovely hotel. The room was the biggest we had in our entire Japan holiday and very comfortable. All hotel facilities were excellent and the breakfast buffet was outstanding. Could not fault the experience of staying here in any way.
Very nice hotel with attentive staff
Plus is the laundry machines
Excellent dinner French Japanese fusion
Breakfast was better than expected
Close to Matsumoto castle
Highly recommended and would visit again

Nice hotel we used the Japanese style room with futon and in room shower. My GF had her period so it was good she didn’t need to use the onsen.
Room was nice and big and very close to Matsumoto castle. Only thing I was disappointed was parking fee. It’s far from tokyo so I assume many would drive if not train so I was surprised to charged extra for the overnight parking.
Lovely olde world hotel with a nice basement bath house. Good breakfast and a great location close to shops, restaurants and the beautiful castle. Pick up from the station at 3pm was a bonus!
Historic property, incredibly helpful & friendly staff, very comfortable and clean. The breakfast buffet was great, as well as the attached coffee shop. Onsen was lovely, I have tattoos and emailed the property beforehand to make sure that was fine. Very close to the sights, would recommend!
Hotel staff was nice and ambience was great if you like Japanese western decor. 1,000 yen discount voucher given due to on-going facade construction which i thought is a nice gesture. Superb location near Matsumoto castle.
I was happy to stay one night at the Matsumoto Hotel in Kagetsu.
Everything was good, but the room smelled like an old hotel.
It has a great location, excellent breakfast and friendly English-speaking staff.
Excellent experience, welcoming, polite, respectful and helpful staff. Room was perfectly clean and very comfortable, with a nice view of the mountains. Location was convenient, being walking distance to many local restaurants, shops, shrines and the castle.
Charming property exceptionally clean, special mention of the wonderful onsen, enjoyed our most unusual experience of sleeping in a traditional Japanese room with tatami mats. Our dinner in the restaurant was superb, kudos to the skilled chef! Matsumoto is a lovely town with a slow paced vibe , so different from other Japanese cities.
Nice hotel situated in Matsumoto, close to the castle. Excellent welcome and service from staff throughout the trip. Room was comfortable and clean, although a bit old fashioned. Did not manage to try the public baths, but the breakfast was good.
The building itself was bit old, our room had discomfort smell in the bathroom all the time. Nice to have a public bath for relaxing. Buffet style breakfast was very busy, but lots of good selections of Japanese/western style food. I really enjoyed the locally made egg with bonito on rice!
