"Fast and friendly check-in set the tone right away. Within minutes we were upstairs in a tidy, modern room that felt well maintained and thoughtfully laid out.
The lobby is nicely decorated with a distressed mid-century feel. Think aviation metal and worn leather, the sort of aesthetic that makes you half expect a Pan Am pilot from the 1960s to wander through looking for a drink.
The room itself is comfortable and practical. The bed is on the firm side but paired with very soft pillows, which makes for a surprisingly good night’s sleep. The bathroom is modern and beautifully tiled with excellent hot water temperature, always a welcome luxury after wandering around humid Penang.
Small touches help. The coffee bar includes a fridge and two complimentary bottles of water each day, something you’ll appreciate after exploring the streets of George Town.
Location is another big win. The hotel sits within easy walking distance of several food markets, a mall, and plenty of local points of interest, making it a convenient base for eating and exploring your way around the city."
"If you have kids, this is where it’s at! There is a kids club 10-13.00 (chargeable at 30 MYR for 2 hours) and 14.00-18.00 (free), both of which have great activities - in the morning, there is a large soft play zone with giant slides, video games etc and in the afternoon, they do activities like cooking class, golf, flying kites, etc. Plus you have all the pools, splash area and beach water sports. The staff were warm, professional and keeping with the strong Shangri-La brand ! We would come back! "
"Excellent staff, professional and helpful, newer property. Gorgeous sea view and Instagramable bath situation but our AC didn’t work well (24C for our whole stay though we dropped it to 16C as soon as we checked it). They tried but unable to fix it and were not offered a change of room…"
