The Royal Botanical Gardens were a great place to visit large spaces for a picnic and beautiful trees and shrubs. The avenues of palm trees are spectacular and the fernery such a lovely, shady place to escape the heat.

Our favourite part by far are the trees the fruit bats call home; listen, and look up – you'll ear them chattering, and see them hanging upside down with their furry bodies turned to the sun, every so often you'll see one or two stretch their wings, or even fly from one roost to another. These bats, unlike most bats, fly by sight not radar – something I didn't know until I visited this most beautiful park.

"Our family of 5 arrived at the villa at 630pm tired and hoping for a good night rest. Pressed the bell and knocked on the door before someone came down from the villa. Realised they werent aware there is a booking for the night's stay! We had to wait for a good one hour before that poor caretaker sort out the stay wt the owner for our booking and then cleaned the rooms. No service recovery and no apologies by the owner at all. "My family and I stayed at Radisson during November 2025 in lake view suites and deluxe and triple rooms as we were a large group. We were received with a warm welcome from the first day and were taken care of well by the entire staff. The Radisson Kandy is clean and well organized with a knowledgeable and friendly staff. The hotel is also close to all of the local main attractions and the city center. We highly recommend staying at the Radisson Kandy for any traveller."

Food is a little hit and miss. Just worth noting that prices on the menu don’t include taxes. When these are included, this, together with service, adds a third to the bill. This is really misleading and could be easily fixed. Excellent value overall though. "
