"Staying at Hotel Il Castello was a step back into history - a beautiful appointed historic building that had been sympathetically made over into a hotel/bar/restaurant, with panoramic views over Lower Certaldo. The bedrooms very clean, with rustic charm and furnishings. Modern functioning shower, TV, and AIRCON unit which was very welcome in the intensive 30+ degree heat of the day and night. The background music in the restaurant/bar always playing Jazz music - which, whilst not my favourite type of music, was actually very pleasant. Not surprising since the owner is a Jazz musician and either was OR is still heavily involved in the Jazz music industry. The only downside (and maybe only to British travellers?) was the absence of Tea/Coffee making facilities in your hotel room. From start to finish, hotel staff always helpful, always smiling and eager to assist in any way. Continental breakfast every morning with the options of cereals was marvellous. Certalo Alto (Upper Certaldo) where the hotel is positioned is in a fortified town and is very rustic and sympathetically restored without making everything look new, you KNOW without doubt that the area is set deep in history. Absolutely beautiful place. Dare I say it, younger people, or people without a car might find the lack of local amenities a bit of a challenge, but if you are looking for a sleepy, relaxing atmosphere, then this is the place for you. If the owner and staff see this, I really do want to thank them."

"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I honestly don’t think I could write a review that does this place justice. From the moment we arrived, we were completely blown away. This beautiful historic house is surrounded by absolutely stunning scenery, a gorgeous pool, vineyards stretching for miles, and so much history and character. The house itself is incredible, but what really made our stay special was how warm, caring, and helpful the staff were. When we arrived, we were given a full tour of the property, and the whole experience genuinely felt like being welcomed into someone’s home. There’s something so special about this place. The history, the beauty, the atmosphere, and the incredible hospitality all come together perfectly. And the food was AMAZING. The pasta portions are on the smaller side (our ravioli was 6 pieces), but every bite was absolutely delicious and completely worth it. And the Florentine steak was MASSIVE, easily the best steak I’ve ever had! We had such an amazing time and truly didn’t want to leave. We will 1000% be back. ❤️"

"A clean hotel, we got upgraded so no issues on room was updated and pleasant, AC could have been stronger but was ok, nice buffet breakfast with good assortment of food:) Front desk ladies were helpful in giving restaurant suggestions in the surrounding area 👌"

"Fun and unique place to stay! Check-in was smooth and staff helpful throughout our stay. Tents are well equipped, with a decent amount of space for our family of 5. The aircon unit did way better than we thought it would seeing as it was over 35 degrees most of the day, but the tent cooled down nicely at night. Good location to explore the area - lots of places around an hour’s drive - Lucca, Pisa, Sienn and more! On-site pool was lovely to cool down in after a day exploring."
