"We were excited to visit the small town of Hexham to see the sites both in town and at the nearby Roman ruins along Hadrians Wall. Victoria Tap was both the perfect central location to do that and an overall great place to stay. We thought a pub might be noisy at night but we didn’t hear a thing in our room. Even through two World Cup matches. The staff was nothing but friendly and helpful. This hotel is a great value for the cost and we would recommend a stay. The room was larger than expected and the amenities were great."
"Really lovely place to stay near parts of Hadrians Wall and also Kielder Reservoir. Good walks round the village and nice pubs too. We had an excellent snack in the cafe.... scones and drinks.... before we were shown the room (number 1) Spacious, well equipped, good hot shower and a spa bath with a TV which we never had time to test. Staff were friendly, breakfast was excellent too. Biggest sausage bap in the village !
Can't really think of a negative. Bed was too soft for us, but that's just personal preference. Overall, a great night away."
"Beautiful Castle, fantastic food and good service.
We adore Castles and this is a proper one and given it was 27 degrees when we stayed the air-conditioning in the room was an unexpected benefit.
Our room was beautiful.
The only criticism I could make was that the arrangement of meeting in the drawing room 30 minutes before dinner was a bit of a shambles with no one offering us a drink or menus for 20 minutes, then collecting us to take us to our table only for them to say they hadn't meant to take us and would we sit down again.
However, this didn't distract from an amazing stay, and the food was really top draw."
"A good welcome and shown to my room. Very good first impression. The room however was 'roasting' with no aircon, no fan, and no open windows. Decor was tasteful, but several signs of lacking maintenance - uneven patio with missing slabs, blocked sink, and poor paintwork.
Bed was very comfortable, plenty of bedding. Kettle, with ample tea and coffee.
There was a TV, but I didnt use it.
Breakfast was again adequate and tasted fine. Service was lacking though, and staff seemed disinterested. Summing up, The Riverdale Hall Hotel was okay, but not great."
"Lovely welcome at check-in.
Evening meal and breakfast were delicious.
Staff very attentive.
Suite was lovely.
Enjoyed the complimentary mini bar.
Will visit again."
"Great location, easy relaxed dining, great bar, bedrooms are spacious with a modern bathroom and amenities. The hotel staff are very helpful, friendly and professional."
