Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well. We've put together a list of handy tips that will help get your Spas-Demensk holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a great experience if you take the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a fresh change of clothes and something to read. Secondly, leave space in your carry-on bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, medications and maybe a blow-up neck pillow too. Lastly, remember to take your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Pointed or sharp objects, like your beloved Swiss Army knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and matches, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane are not the best place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and pack a sweater as the temperature can drop in the cabin on long-haul flights. Slightly roomy, flat shoes are also recommended.
- A condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation. Walking up and down the aisle and doing leg and foot exercises in your seat helps to prevent this happening. Wearing a high-quality pair of compression socks or tights can also help.
