- Air travel can be a pleasure if you take the right things. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a fresh set of clothes and a good novel. Secondly, leave space in your bag for your electronic devices, chargers, medications and maybe a cosy neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to take your passport, travel papers and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Sharp or pointed objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and strong acids, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of your airplane are no fashion runway. Layer up with comfortable clothing and bring a sweater as it can get quite cool inside the cabin during longer flights. Closed-toed, flat shoes are also a sensible choice.
- It's likely you've heard about DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by reduced mobility or inactivity. There are many ways to mitigate your risk. Wear a good-quality pair of compression socks, stay well hydrated and get your legs and feet moving. Walk around the cabin when possible or try out some exercises in your seat.
