No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've prepared well. We've put together a list of handy tips and tricks that will help get your Askham escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be easy if you bring the right stuff. First things first, you'll need toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare pair of socks and a good read. Secondly, leave space in your hand luggage for your electronic devices, chargers, any vital medications and perhaps a comfy neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, be sure to bring your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have a sharp object lurking in one of the zippers of your carry-on luggage. Other restricted items include explosive or flammable goods, such as fuel and fireworks, and gels and liquids in containers larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft are no place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfy clothing and remember to bring a sweater as it can get quite cool in the cabin. Slightly roomy, flat shoes are also recommended.
- You've probably heard about DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. There's plenty you can do to lessen your risk. Wear compression tights or socks, stay hydrated and keep your legs and feet moving. Wander up and down the aisles of the cabin or perform some stretches in your seat.
