Our room did not look like it had been fully cleaned when we arrived, there was a empty packet on the floor by the bed and the glass on the wardrobe was covered in finger marks. The room was also hotter inside than outside with no real way of opening window and a very small fan provided for us. I am glad they offered the fan but honestly it was the hottest room I have been in in years. The prices at the bar were appalling considering there was nowhere else to go for 10...

"The Genting was always a favourite stopover when traveling through England as it breaks up the trip from London to Yorkshire. The hotel is still quite nice compared to others in the area but doesn’t seem to have been maintained to the high standards it once was. The spa experience was still great, however the outdoor spa was not working and I had to share the pool experience with the cleaning crew at 7am. "There’s good and not quite as good aspects..Lovely sized room and bathroom with fantastic outlook, but smelt a bit damp almost like wet carpet that hadn’t dried properly. Very spacious bathroom with bath and shower, but a sensor turns on the lights so in the middle of the night if you visit the bathroom the whole bathroom lights up like a summers day. Bed really comfy and unusually firm pillows, perfect for me. And Alexa in the bedroom is a nice touch. Really peaceful (until the geese start 😁)...

"We had reserved two rooms. One of the rooms had such an awful, musty smell that it hit you as soon as you opened the door. We notified reception and were given a bottle of air freshener. Sprayed half a bottle in the room and went out to dinner. When we came back smell was still there and still as pungent. TV was also not working so we called reception again. "Fabulous grand manor that’s been updated and converted. Good use of glass for atrium areas that feel warm. They take good pride in their food and for good reason - everything was absolutely delicious and at the highest levels, quite shocking for such a small place. But book your seating right away and early - limited seating. "
