The Royal Botanical Gardens were a great place to visit large spaces for a picnic and beautiful trees and shrubs. The avenues of palm trees are spectacular and the fernery such a lovely, shady place to escape the heat.

Our favourite part by far are the trees the fruit bats call home; listen, and look up – you'll ear them chattering, and see them hanging upside down with their furry bodies turned to the sun, every so often you'll see one or two stretch their wings, or even fly from one roost to another. These bats, unlike most bats, fly by sight not radar – something I didn't know until I visited this most beautiful park.

"The torturous winding road and hairpin bends,make this hotel quite difficult to get to; it is also at the top of a very, very steep mountain, SO steep and narrow our car could not make it to the top. We had to get out and climb the next kilometre on foot, with our baggage, up a rough, unmade, rocky road; when we eventually arrived we faced another climb up two dozen steep steps to the door. "Nice place, good service. Not many sun loungers at the pool. Sad to hear that the leftovers from the buffet are thrown out and not given to the ones in need. Try to reduce food waste, and at the same time do something good for the ones without much."

"Large, modern and well equipped room with beautiful views over the city and a small balcony. The restaurant and bar area is very pleasant, on the rooftop with great views. Food is a little hit and miss. Just worth noting that prices on the menu don’t include taxes. When these are included, this, together with service, adds a third to the bill. This is really misleading and could be easily fixed. Excellent value overall though. "
