"Hotel is in a great location - just over 15 minute walk to the train station, close to shops and the Cathedral - looks like the downstairs has been elegantly renovated. Beautiful newly-refurbished bedroom, with some really thoughtful extra touches - such as a rubber bathmat and handrail, electric fan, suitcase stand, and biscuits every day with the tea and coffee. "Stanbrook Abbey Hotel is amazing in all respects. It’s historical and very attractive set in extensive grounds. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and comfortable. The staff are lovely and very helpful. I only had one meal in the hotel and it was excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, it’s great."

"A pleasantly quirky place, and the staff were incredibly lovely and helpful. Rooms were fresh and spotlessly clean. No noise from inside the hotel, and little from outside. Bar was good value. The cooked breakfast wasn't great, and I didn't feel particularly good value, but the continental breakfast was very good value and very tasty and fresh. Would happily stay again!"

Breakfast and dinner excellent. Only small minus after they had lost that we'd prepaid for a meal . They were polite and I believe a new computer system was the problem but could've said sorry.
