"Friendly staff, lovely food and a superb room."

"I have stayed at a few of these hotels for work as I travel around quite regularly. There seems to be a reoccurring theme that the bathrooms have a really horrible drain smell. I would have mentioned this to staff but I dropped my bags off to the room went for dinner come back and it was already around 8:30- 9:00. "The staff really make this hotel — they’re fantastic! Always attentive, checking that everything is okay and asking if you need anything. The hotel is currently undergoing some improvements, but that didn’t spoil our stay at all. Our room was fantastic, everything was very clean, and we’ll definitely be back. The breakfast was really nice and tasty I would recommend the Welsh Breakfast "

"We saw the beautiful grand exterior online and believed that's where we were staying. Alas, when we arrived to check in, we were told that we were actually staying in an adjacent building. This was news to us. We were walked out a side door, bags in tow, across a street, and into another building. "Rubbish was found all over the floor (plastic nails, bottle of water under the dressing table, half eaten cookie), bed extremely uncomfortable, food in the restaurant salty(when sent back the tone was like I was asking for more food, rather than trying to rectify error politely), no idea how this place is 4star, would never go back. Spa just re-opened after refurb, but works still going on, debri everywhere, smell of silicone in the changing room revolting. Staff on reception and spa lovely. "

"Stayed at Hoopers Hotel for two nights with my wife and baby and had a really nice stay. The room was comfy, we all slept well, and the sea view was lovely. Nice little touches with tea, coffee, snacks, and a ceiling fan to keep the room cool. Even though it’s on a busy road, it was surprisingly quiet. Really good value for money. We would definitely stay again."

"It sounds trite but this is truly a gem of a hotel. Beautiful location, quiet, lovely gardens, very comfortable room and first class service throughout the hotel, from welcome at reception to saying goodbye. Restaurant (Artisan Room) was very good, the staff here so very helpful and lovely with it. Food is fresh, local and well prepared and served. Could not fault it. Good wine list too. It's a beautiful old house and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
