"Nice sizeable and comfortable room. Unfortunately it was quite hot due to it being on the second floor and after a string of hotter than usual days, not helped by the fact that the heated towel rail (from the hot water system) couldn't be shut off. But a great old pub to stay in all the same. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant."

"What a superb gem of a hotel. Location is ideal for travelling with plenty of car parking. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and the room had everything we needed. Breakfast was extremely good with a wide selection of continental and superbly cooked and varied hot options. Ate dinner in the restaurant and the meal was lovely. Originally booked one night travelling south and then decided to stay again a few nights later when travelling back. Will definitely be back."

"My friend and I stopped here overnight on our way to Cornwall. The area is beautiful and it's a nice old estate/manor. The rooms were clean, but a little dated. It must've been a wedding party that stayed overnight, as we heard all of them in the courtyard and hallways at 7 am, so the walls are extremely thin. Fine for a one night stay."

We never were able to use our reservation and did not stay after paying in full. I called earlier in the day to confirm, and they gave me the lockbox location and code, but upon arrival by taxi (after midnight) there were no keys in the box, leaving us alone outside with no car. "Well located for shops and both Exeter Main and St. Davids railway stations. My room was compact but well thought out and well equipped. It was great to have a light next to the bed which you could turn off/on easily and the shower was good. Breakfast was first class, beautifully served and coffee one of the best. I would have liked more savoury options for the breakfast but that is just a small preference. Host was really helpful and very welcoming. I would stay here again."

"I would definitely recommend this hotel. My wife and I stayed in an apartment, which had a large kitchen with all the amenities you would need. It had a hob, an oven, microwave and fridge, plus a toaster and even a caffatiere. The bedroom, living area and bathroom were a good size and really comfortablex the bar in the hotel had a great decking area with a great view over the river and down towards Teignmouth.
