"Everything was excellent, however not much for kids to do, in the 13-17 yr age range."

"ZERO instruction on getting to room. No welcoming, help with luggage, or any kind of complementary service. Spent an hour walking around because our building didn't exist on the map. Staff didn't seem to care about assisting us, and manager threatened to kick us out for voicing our concerns. In order to get any service at the room required 3+ calls to front desk. Staff was not happy or helpful, had to seat myself at restaurants most of the time and go out of my way to get cutlery or drinks. Dangerous open electrical wiring left open on street lamps, 2 days had power random outages Room card stopped working randomly and had to walk all the way to reception, drinking water not available until 9am even from front desk. Mini bar was difficult to get refilled in general. Floor was dirty, even after room was cleaned, and weird stains on the sheets. Beach was full of harassment from vendors, even behind the string gate, couldn’t even sit and enjoy a drink. No staff was present to put out sun shades for chairs Terrible experience, mostly due to staff. I will not be returning to a Riu"

"If you want to visit a scene from a post card do yourself a favor and book here! It’s old fashioned and not modernized but you can go to the market at sunset beach with the shuttle service they provide and enjoy the day there shopping and eating most of which is included in the all inclusive package. You can use the amenities and restaurants from the next door resort because there’s only two at this one. The staff is exceptional and I have to say their beyond hospitality is true to word. Clear skies, clear water, what more could you ask for?"

"Food was amazing. Only issue wa with Alejandro at the front desk. When we said no to a time share tour he changed our room to a bottom floor The resort was less than 50% occupied and he Mention we were on the top floor with ocean view Everting else was a great choice to go. Just might not come back due to Alejandro. "

"We had a fantastic stay & were thoroughly impressed with Playa Grande! The food quality, beautiful pools/grounds, & staff exceeded our expectations. Our room was spacious w/a great view of crashing waves & even an occasional whale from inside the room & both balconies. Wifredo (Brigatine Steakhouse) & Hector (poolside server) both deserve special shoutouts for their exceptional guest service. Our plates & cups were never empty from sun up to sun down! The organized pool activities (volleyball, card games) were a great time & helped us mingle w/other resort guests. There was an impressive effort each day to make the resort clean & ready. Each morning an army of workers could be seen putting up umbrellas, scrubbing the pools/fish ponds, trimming the palms & plants, washing pool chairs, & putting out fresh towels. Minigolf was an added bonus, and the resort was an easy walk to the marina. Minor improvements would be: throw away chipped/cracked glassware, include the coffee cart in the all-inclusive, and allow Ridge access for all guests (kid-friendly pool with a waterslide). I initially had a neutral to negative conversation messaging the resort before our trip, when I was told we couldn't be guaranteed a crib, nor could they put a welcoming message on the bed. However, both requests were honored beyond my expectation when I arrived (2 cribs in the room & a stunning flower message on the bed for a small charge). Overall we loved the resort and trip & are making plans to return!"
