No restaurant available to dine at only the overcrowded bar full of Xmas shoppers. Restaurant opening at 5pm. After driving for 2hrs from Hampstead, North London, were hoping to grab a nice champagne lunch before our evening gathering. The front desk computer system was also down so was made to login into my email to find the actual cost of the booking so I could pay there and then for my first night - totally unreasonable and distressing. I had to get my bags from concierge as on my iPad not phone. No decent food available at the bar (or room), no seating either - yet we were the actual hotel guests staying the hotel and who had booked for a relaxing spa weekend, but couldn’t get a table nor could we book one; unacceptable. There was nothing relaxing about it all. Too overcrowded. Shows that a restaurant should be open if people cannot find a seat, just makes sense. Staff did their best to assist, cannot fault them. They tried. Unclear if the hotel is under staffed. Also, upon arrival the concierge took our bags and stacked them in the corner of the entrance lobby - just looked/felt unsafe, should be taken into a separate room. Was hoping to visit every Christmas and meet friends who now live near Brighton, make it a regular catch up Christmas and attend the spa. Don’t think will be considering that now; unfortunate. The room was nice, bathroom beautiful, but paying for room service every time you ordered! Not a memorable nor pleasant stay. trust the feedback was helpful.
