"The Royal presents itself impeccably. It has quality everywhere you look. Our room was immaculate and food quality didn’t let us down. However, our experience at breakfast was a little disappointing as everything was being cleared away before we had finished eating!! "Staff couldn’t do enough to help us. The room was impeccable quality. Our bed was comfortable, we loved the huge bath tub in the room and the welcome gifts and coffee machine added a nice touch. The only minor issues we found, was the room was extremely cold on arrival, however the room had its own thermostat which we were able to increase and quickly warm up the room. The automatic lights in the toilet and wash area were inconvenient in the middle of the night but easy to block out by closing...

"Staff were really friendly. Hotel and grounds were beautiful. Rooms were spotless. They also left a teddy on my daughters bed, which was lovely.the only 2 downsides were the WiFi (room 20) wasn’t reliable, this is fine if you don’t need the internet but if you intend to use it was a bit of pain because there was no mobile signal either. I like that it is a dog friendly hotel, however we had a dog barking most of the night at the hotel."

"A lovely, quaint and homely guest house with friendly, helpful staff. My room was clean, comfortable, warm and cosy. I was given a guided tour of the breakfast facilities upon check in and then shown to my room. The breakfast itself next morning was delicious and made to order. Rothay Garth is situated right at the heart of Ambleside, with all the local amenities only a couple of minute's walk away. There was also ample free parking on the premises.
