"We were only there for one night but the room was clean, the air condition worked well and the shower had plenty of hot water. In all, it was a great place to use as our home base as we did various tours in the area. We would stay there again without hesitation. "If you are in Costa Rica to be close to nature, Arenal Observatory Lodge is the place to be. The views of the volcano are unbeatable and the massive grounds are teaming with wildlife--birds, coati, monkeys, reptiles. The many on-site trails are beautiful and well kept, and the optional guided tours are great. We did a guided night tour and were amazed by the wildlife we saw, all of which we never would have noticed without the guide. We ate at the restaurant for many of our meals and enjoyed everything, and the staff is extremely friendly. As with many places in Costa Rica, there was no air conditioning in the rooms, but this was not a problem for us in late April/early May and the fan did the trick. I'll miss this place! (PS, don't be alarmed by the long dirt road on the drive in, the end result is worth it.)"
