The view was what we were looking for and yet they were doing renovations on the building. The view was completely obscured so we couldn’t appreciate the view at all. We were put on the first floor right above the entrance, but the sliding entrance door was so loud when someone entered and exited the building that the room vibrated, waking me and my spouse up constantly. We probably won’t book there again.

This was a fantastic hotel in a perfect location. Check in was easy, and they even lent me an adapter for the electrical outlets. The room was clean and modern and had a nice view of the canal. The only criticism I have is of the awful "all in one" body wash/shampoo/conditioner in the shower -- make sure to bring your own haircare!

It was difficult to sleep due to the outside noise. The room was very hot and the air conditioner unit kept automatically turning off and on, and would not stop making a clicking noise.

Wouldn’t want to stay in the height of summer.
The AC condenser unit in my room (43) made an annoying constant sound so I couldn’t have it on. Fortunately, I had two opening windows so could get fresh air through those. My two friends had no opening windows in their rooms. They told me that their rooms fluctuated between freezing cold and very hot. Great central location for everything but quite noisy as had to have windows open.

The canal view was amazing, but the room was small. We didn't realize it was on a main, busy street, so it was a bit overwhelming. Otherwise, the stay was fine. Close to restaurants, Rembrandt square, transportation.

Great location
We were right in the heart, easily walkable, and suitably comfortable...but not exactly comfortable. We happened to be there for King's Day which was problematic because of the old windows we could hear everything...and were woken up by a band playing at midnight to welcome in the holiday. Overall though I thought it was a good choice.

Small Room - Nothing Exceptional - Great Location
The rooms are very small. Based on the map of the floor on the back of the door, we were given the smallest of the four small rooms on the floor (avoid rooms ending in 4). We changed rooms from what we were originally given due to the extremely small double bed. We then requested twin beds hoping they would be bigger per person. They weren't. Each bed was basically no wider than a cot. We both almost fell off our beds during the stay. My pillow case was torn and the bed covers had holes. What little floor space we had was devoted to our two pieces of luggage. The room safe wasn't bolted down and didn't open anyway. The bathroom was also small, but adequate. With that said, the location is excellent. Tram service is nearby and walking to most attractions was easy. And the staff was very friendly. It was a decent overall stay, but if we're in Amsterdam again, we'll probably look for somewhere else in the same vicinity.

Great Location, Very Nice view, Clean, very helpful staff. my only issue was the bed was way too soft and the toilet was very tight in a corner of the restroom, not sure all rooms were like that but that made it uncomfortable and im not even close to being a big guy. Overall I would recommend it.

Nice stay at Hotel The Bird
We had a great stay at Hotel The Bird! They were very accommodating and welcoming. I had accidentally booked the wrong date for the first night of our stay and they were willing to give us a good price for an additional night; we very much appreciated it. Amazing room view of the canal and great location! Room and bathroom were small but nice, perfect for just the two of us.

This was a perfect location--very central for sight seeing in the old city center. We walked to the hotel from the main train station (about 20 minutes-- far with suitcases, but doable). We then walked to the Rembrandt museum & back with no trouble. The restaurant literally next door was terrific with some local specialties that we enjoyed trying. Our hotel room was small, but clean & comfortable with good temperature control. The toilet had its own closet, and the shower was in another one. The double bed was actually two twins pushed together and made up separately. Great price for the location and staff was helpful with airport transfer. There's apparently a light breakfast included, but we left too early to try it.

Great location near Old Town, Rembrandt Square, and the Tram. Plenty of restaurants and pubs in the area within walking distance. The nightlife maybe a little too lively, the noise did not die down until 5:00 AM on Friday night. Make sure you request a room in the rear if you don’t want to listen to the street noise and late night revelry.

Nice and clean hotel close to Rembrant Sqaure. Great location for walking to all areas of Amsterdam. Rooms are on the small side with tea/coffee facilities, however these were not stocked up if used more than once.

Excellent location, rooms are clean if a bit small. Staff friendly. Only downside is the price you book at is not what you pay as they add 6% Tourist Tax and extra 5% when paying by credit card.

Good location but v expensive for mediocre hotel.
Very small room to be expected but single triple beds were tiny and v thin. Only 2 small bottles of water left for 3 adults and would not replenish or give additional bottle without much persuasion. No shower gel left in dispenser, towels small and room not tidy under beds. Very expensive for what it is, female staff v friendly however. Good location near bars etc.

Way over rated and terrible management
Terrible experience and awful manager. The reservation was confirmed, but upon arrival (1.5 hour prior to check in) we were informed hotel was overbooked (it was a holiday) and there was no room, but they would be putting us in a “sister hotel”. We had to drag our bags down the street only to be placed in a horrible dirty, smelly, walk up firetrap (boiler room was connected into our room) and walls vibrated until 3am from night club below. Could not even block the base sounds with noise canceling headphones. We spent one miserable night in our sleep sacs and did not even want to shower there (yuck). After complaining to booking agent and manager, they moved us back to The Bird. Manager had the nerve to argue with us about our request for refund for the horrible treatment and sleepless night in what should be rated 1 star (if that). Ultimately we got refunded only a third of the bill for one night. Unacceptable. Management here is horrid and you can never trust your reservation. Go elsewhere. Plus the 4 star rating is way over rated. Even without the saga, this is a no more than 2.5 to 3 star hotel (its over rated).

The little things do matter
Let me start with the good. The front desk people were really nice, the room was clean, the location was very good. Unfortunately I didn't like my experience here. The table by the window was sharp and punctured my jeans, moving the bed was hard and hit my feet, the towels did not smell good, I didn't like being told to be quiet in the lobby late night, paying for coffee in the machine, I didn't pay the same rate quoted in ny reservation hotel and the front door had issues. Overall good last minute choice though,
