"Grovefield House proved to be a real gem for my wife and I. From the first impression of arriving at the well tended car park and entrance portico, then meeting the staff on reception, who were friendly and accommodating. The place has a nice ambience which is not over the top. It's just pleasant and easy to get along with. Our room was spacious and had a nice bay window overlooking the rear grounds. It was well appointed with a 'traditional' air to it. There was a bath with a super shower above. We loved the spacious grounds which we explored. Food in the restaurant and at RaRa's grill to the side of the premises was varied and not over priced. My daughter and family met us there on one day and they too were suitably impressed. Just a nice place to relax and also handy for exploring the local sites such as Clivedon House. We rated it..."

" We recently stayed at the Frederick Hotel & Spa in Maidenhead and felt like extras in a low-budget horror-comedy. The property is charmingly stuck in a bygone era—peeling wallpaper, threadbare carpets, and dated finishes that scream “renovate me.” Our suite’s bed was a medieval plank and the pillows were wafer-thin relics. Housekeeping was inconsistent: rooms often weren’t cleaned, coffee capsules were never replenished, and one visit merely left two towels and bottled water. In-room communication was non-existent—only a non-working bathroom phone—so any request required a pilgrimage to the front desk. Bathroom repairs looked like a caulk enthusiast’s hobby rather than a proper renovation, and dust collected in corners as if on purpose. The gym was disappointing: treadmills, ellipticals, and vibration machines out of service, plus a poorly maintained weight station. The “Room Bar” fridge was an amusing survivor—empty, dented, and battle-scarred, but it did reliably keep things cold. Staff were pleasant but the operation felt understaffed and under-resourced. If you want quirky character, this hotel has it; if you want comfort, cleanliness, and functioning facilities for the price, look elsewhere. We won’t be returning."

"This is such a frat place. Lovely rooms, great food and one of my favorite pubs at the front. 5 min walk to Thames walks..it’s perfect. Watch out for parking though as can be tricky"

"Gorgeous self contained studio. My boys (aged 5 and 9) loved the built in bunk beds, and the fact they could collect fresh eggs and feed all the animals. Shaun and Angelica were so friendly, accomodated an earlier check in, and gave the boys plenty of animal feed! Only a 10min drive from Windsor Castle and Legoland, so perfect for our trip! The boys are already asking when we can return again! "

"The room was small because of the price, but it smell of cigarette smoke and sewage.but the bathroom was clean and all standard toiletries were supplied.The £10 a night charge was ridiculously"

"The rooms are very warm and those in the old wing are quite dated. The gym could do with more equipment and the spa area could do with a shower. The breakfast was hearty and the staff were great."
