"This was an ‘extra’ overnight stay on our way to a golf tournament at another venue. The receptionist, Charley, was very polite and helpful and apologised for the fact that Hotels.com had not mentioned in my booking that car taking needed to be paid for separately…the only ‘fault’ we could find was that the breakfast only catered for scrambled eggs - no fried or poached options! :-("

"Fab place. I’ve stayed a few times and it’s always good quality. Staff went above and beyond this visit. Gym was excellent with good quality air con. My room was nice & comfy. I did 3 classes during my stay, all classes were of high quality. I had an evening meal & breakfast, again good quality. I sat out on the veranda overlooking the golf course. I also used the sauna during my visit which was one of the hottest I’ve been in! Top notch! Well done The Essex"

"Well presented hotel with friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms. very good selection at breakfast - ideal for a short stay."

"Great location right on the sea front close to Adventure Island, the Pier and the high street. Check in was swift and the reception was open with helpful staff even at 4.30am when I came back from my night out. Room was clean and comfortable albeit basic with no frills and a small supply of tea & coffee. Bathroom was fine with a good shower. Ironing facilities in the room also and TV. Off site parking was straight over the road but quite expensive at £25 for 10+ hours. View of sea and Pier...

"Booked last minute and the staff on the front desk couldn’t be more helpful. It was nice & cheap, bed was comfortable & clean, towels & showers were just what was needed after a long day. No complaints from me at all 👏"

"It’s a very traditional hotel in a lovely, scenic landscape. It also provides a lot of entertainment for youths. It is within walking distance to the station, the High Street and it’s by the sea with a wonderful park in front of it."

"Lovely hotel. We stayed only for one night but the room was lovely and cosy, beautiful old beams but clean and modern bathroom as well. Bed was super comfy. Didn't stay for breakfast as was a flying visit but it was reasonably priced (£12) so would try it if we stay again! A little noisy in the morning as you can hear doors slamming but nothing that bothered us, no noise at night that we heard! We also had a few pints in the pub in the evening which was lovely, didn't eat there but the food...
