"The location and view are the highlights of the property. Those are 5 stars. The state of the property is quite worn: contractor-grade bathroom door, rough towels, questionable ac unit. Service was lacking: I called down for extra towels, told I’d get some, then hours later, nothing. I ran into a housekeeping staff on the floor as I was going to go in person to get some, who said he never got the message. The breakfast, while an extraordinary view, was very, very poor. "I understand this was an eco lodge. However, there is no air and little cross breeze. Our bed was broken, there were not enough towels (only 3 for 5 people), we were encouraged to shower by turning the water off while we used soap, the pots and pans were so dirty that some could not be cleaned. The worst was that the staff was unprofessional. They did not communicate effectively, they were dismissive about simple requests (like "how to check in") and once we did check in we NEVER heard from...

"Room I booked had strong mildew smell. Owner solved problem by allowing us to move to upstairs unit. This was so much better. Appreciate the responsiveness. Hot tub is very old and beat up. Time for an upgrade. But sitting there at night with frogs and moonlight was awesome. Lava tube was closed. This was a bummer as it’s why we picked this place. Very close to park entrance. Short drive."

"Beds are so comfortable. Lovely grounds , spa is great with hot tub and sauna that you can reserve for private time. Birds can be noisy but you get used to them and actually look forward to hearing and seeing them around the property. "
