"First time I have stayed at this property under Marriott, largely the same as previously, just with minor cosmetic changes such as new light fixtures/soft furnishings. The air con unit wasn't working but this was resolved well by reception (some old air con units require replacement, windows don't open). Some of the hotel is looking a bit worse for wear with surfaces scuffed. The tv reception was also hit and miss. Modern hotel but needs some investment for the guest experience. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and professional."

"Really good hotel. Well postioned in the City for getting around all attractions and transport links. Good room, spacious, plenty of light and really clean. Reception staff very helpful and welcoming. The only negative for me was, despite being several floors up, I was kept awake by loud music until early hours from the bars across the street. Not sure if the rooms at the back of the hotel would be quieter. I would say if you stay here bring some ear plugs. Shame because the hotel itself is very good."

"Professional efficient staff. In particular those in the bar and restaurant. We had drinks in the bar first night. Excellent food and service in the outdoor area. We had a young child and a newborn with us as a family and the friendly welcoming service was exceptional."

"The hotel was full of character with beautiful wood panelling everywhere, our room was nice and spacious and bed comfy but as we looked around we realised it needed some tlc, the hot n cold shower tap came away in our hand, the lovely jacuzzi bath was emptying as quick as it filled up as the plug didn't seal properly, a handle was missing off the drawers and lots of ring marks on table tops from past cups n glasses, also badly scratched skirting and carpet looked like it hadn't been hoovered, having said all that we would stay again as it was good value and location"

"The Copthorne is excellent value for money… it has big rooms with king size beds, free parking and a wonderful breakfast buffet that includes all the usual hot breakfast foods as well as fruit, breads and cereals. The restaurant is large and looks out over a small lake, so has quite a peaceful atmosphere despite being in a busy part of the suburbs. It is outside of Cardiff, but has a good bus service to the city centre if you want to leave the car there. The rooms are clean, but could do with a little maintenance… the cupboard hinges were slightly off and a few minor issues are starting to appear in the bathrooms. But overall, an excellent place to stay!"
