"My booking was confirmed and the host contacted me later the next day to tell me they were overbooked. They said they had been booked for my stay for over 2 months. Property was on several sites. How they did not know this for 2 months is beyond my comprehension. They apologized and basically told me it was my problem to deal with and also told me to cancel. "Presented as a charming country hotel, the Criterion- the Cri, has significant pros & cons. My goal is to provide realistic expectations; if you seek a basic comfortable stay - this is NOT your place. If you want boisterous pub atmosphere, this is your place. Overall; pleasant staff, standard pub fare, awful overnight experiences. Management’s priority is the pub patrons - we applaud them for taking this responsibility seriously. However, we chose this location for its represented charm & proximity to the Warwick Train Station for our steam train trip between Warwick & Stanthorpe. As frequent road trippers, we’ve stayed in many small town pub hotels in NSW, QLD, & VIC. We understand & typically enjoy our stays & their unique histories. That noted, it’s evident that the Cri’s pub is where they invest time/money, not lodging. Only basic rooms were available & here’s my honest assessment: guestrooms/halls have peeling wall paint/paper (our room had a hole punched in the wall); roof has many leaks & carpets sorely need replacing; sink had no hot water & barely a trickle of cold; no heat source but extra blankets available; sheets clean & beds reasonably comfortable if you can sleep through the noise. The rear courtyard was ridiculously loud. I used Loop earplugs & they didn’t help. Patrons are either unaware or don’t care that there are guests sleeping. Courtyard cleanup begins promptly at 0700 with a leaf blower. Manager was responsive when made aware but we won’t stay again."

"Very friendly staff. Great location with appropriate parking in front of room. Lovely bathroom with good shower. Beds ok but didn’t like the provided pillow but tolerable for 1 night. The overall room at first glance was clean but the provided cups and cutlery looked dirty. The ones we wanted to use we washed ourselves and ensured to clean them prior to leaving. Visible filth on the aircon remote and couldn't get the aircon to work for warmth but didnt bother us because we brought warm winter clothes with us. Overall I would go back for another night. Thanks "

"Great location as you can walk to the town centre quickly. Staff were nice .Rooms were cleaned well except the pillows. I have only a few things I dislike, remember we tend to comment on the things we dislike. The room had an ant problem, bed pillows smelt of body odour and absolutely rubbish lighting in entire room. Putting on makeup was hard as no natural or proper bathroom lights. Oh wait , I could hear all the noise very clear from the pub as we were positioned next to it but fortunately noise stopped as I assume closing time. Conversations outside were heard clearly. If you’re a bloke in particular or overnight stay or budget conscious… this would be good for you. But overall , I was happy accomadation"
