The Grand Hotel
8/10 Good
"Lovely hotel, the communal areas are well maintained and have been refurbished as have the spa and pool area. Outdoor pool was lovely in the hot weather but could have been cleaned more regularly. Maybe also have a few newer sun loungers. The rooms were dated, paint peeling but were clean enough. Service in restaurant was good, and breakfast had a good selection. Check out and check in was a little slow and had to wait for iron and ironing board for two hours and only received after asking cleaning staff directly rather than at reception. Great location with a cute beach nearby and lovely harbour within walking distance. Lots to do in the area. Nice cocktails at the bar. Would suggest having a pre dinner drink on the balcony there for a good view. Itโs probably worth paying extra for the newer refurbished rooms."

"We really enjoyed our 2 night stay here. The hotel is comfortable and welcoming and sits right on the edge of the moor. Good road access to all areas. Bed, shower were great, meals were tasty (nice breakfast selection) and the staff were always very friendly and helpful. There are 2 areas for eating - the large bar and conservatory; the menus differ slightly in each. Nice terrace with parasols for al fresco dining. The lounge area was really pleasant to sit in after an evening meal - one night a live pianist was playing ( hits from last 50 years) and he was very good. A selection of board/card games were available if required. Would definitely stay again."

"Room close to lift so very noisy For a king room the bathroom was tiny and very hard to move in it. Other than that hotel was nice Didnโt have breakfast but coffee in reception today served by a lovely friendly man was lovely Reception staff lovely too VERY slow lift. Ok for us on floor 1 but some of our friends on 7 had a lot of steps as 20 mins plus for lift not great"

"The rooms are good the bed was a little hard but the facilities make up for that. this is my second stay at this hotel and it is amazing great location entertainment is good for the kids"

"This is the 3rd time we have stayed at this hotel. This time we booked a family room with a bed settee, which was situated on the Plymouth Pavillions side of the hotel, which was a lot quieter than the road at the front of the hotel (we donโt have a main road where we live, so not used to the traffic noise) . It was nice to have air conditioning in our room this time, although the unit could have done with a service, to make it more efficient. Staff were cheerful and helpful as ever, and even managed to get us an early check in. We will be back :)"
