I recently stayed at this hotel and had a very mixed experience. The gentleman on the night shift was extremely rude and arrogant – without doubt the most unpleasant member of staff I’ve ever come across in a hotel. However, the lady on reception in the morning was the complete opposite: very polite, helpful, and welcoming. The owner was also friendly and made an effort, which I really appreciated. That being said, they charge £10 per night for parking, which feels like daylight robbery, especially since you don’t even get a guaranteed parking space for that fee. The condition of the hotel itself isn’t great – it’s definitely in need of some attention – but for the price you pay, it’s decent value. Overall, the stay was acceptable thanks to the morning staff and the owner, but the night staff really lets the place down.

I’m not sure if it’s called the Richmond Hotel or Diamond Hotel, but either way, I would not recommend staying here. The place felt very dingy and was extremely noisy, making it hard to get a decent night’s sleep. The breakfast was disappointing, just toast and croissants, so if you want any real variety, you’ll need to go elsewhere. The worst part was the shower. It was like playing Russian roulette, swinging from scalding hot (the kind that burns your skin) to freezing cold without warning. Definitely not safe or comfortable. I wasn’t expecting luxury by any means, but wow… this was a real letdown. Save yourself the trouble and book somewhere else.

Love the rustic and vintage style, and staff were pretty nice but IT REAAALLY needs renovation. Not satisfied with their breakfast 😆 and hell expensive. No lift. Shower on the 3rd flr was just us flowing like my pee 😆 (not joking). No free parking which is £5 per night. They have pool w/o warmer and cost £10 (I forgot if it's family already or per person , or per swim. Breakfast was just croissants, coffee & tea, and 2 kinds of fruit drinks-that was JUST it. No protein or salads, none. So yeah.. pretty needs good management. It was a lovely sight, and the room given to us has a balcony with a pretty overlooking sea site. 😍

Hotel was basic and tidy and reasonably priced. However, it is in need of modernisation and the cleanliness could be better. For example, I had to clean the light switch after entering the room. They have also just opened the swimming pool which is a bonus and a basic breakfast is included.

Only nice thing was the view from the room window. Didnt get any sleep due to noisey residents partying until atleast 4am. Hotel desperately needing refurbishing depressive downstairs reception and dining areas. Website very misleading with facilities as there was no bar and no parking This hotel should be closed down as definitely not fit for purpose

Ignore the bad reviews. This is the second year running I’ve came here with my children. The hotel is clean and the staff are really polite and helpful it’s cheaper than the other hotels in the area as it’s being refurbished the rooms are decent and lovely views if you get a sea room.

I booked a room for a one night stay on Torquay, as i was travelling from Reading to pick my partner up in Paignton. I was going to leave about 7, after work, to get there for approx 11pm. I rang and made sure i could get in. i was told that if i got there after 10pm, i would be charged an additional £15 late check in fee. I have never heard that before in my life. Suffice to say, i didn't use the room and travelled down in the morning. maybe these things exist, but i've never heard anything so stupid in all my hotel staying days.

It was cheap as chips, which is why I booked it. But the room was dingy. Lots of areas badly in need of maintenance and the icing on the cake was a badly chipped mug provided to make coffee.

Been to this hotel before it was lovely new owners now arrived was told I needed photo ID if I didn’t have it I had to pay £100 deposit they charge you £10 for parking you can park out on the road for free plenty of space my bathroom has mould door not painted properly Toilet roll hanging off wall curtains with filthy sideboard was stained and scratched up. Need a good clean and new furniture. Must say bedding was very clean comfortable bed had a beautiful view from balcony. As long as you know, it’s a budget hotel you’ll be okay don’t expect the Ritz.

Honestly the most bizarre hotel I have ever stayed in. There are no facilities. You couldn’t even boy a soft drink. There was no toilet we could use before we checked in. The huge sign outside says Diamond Hotel. It was a mixture of a ghost town with unused communal rooms and a rough hostel with a welcoming of a fight happening. There were empty cans of cider on the side downstairs. In our room we had to wedge the window open with a towel and in the bathroom we had to do the same with a toilet roll, both to provide air and to try and get rid of whatever the smell was. There was extremely loud banging of doors throughout the night. We were in a triple room and we had two cups. Honestly, I have never experienced anything like it.

No cold water for the whole of the 7 days had to buy bottled water to have wash lift never worked for the whole of the stay room not cleaned at all for 7days towels not changed for the whole of the stay bin not emptied for the whole of the stay tea tray not filled up just absolutely disgusting the only thing that was good was the view if I could of found some were else to stay I would have left on day 2
