Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel

"This is an older hotel that has had a facelift / updating. When you first walk in you definitely smell all of the air fresheners that they have going all the time. Not unpleasant but if you have issues with scents, this will give you a headache. - Checking in is a very slow process. Bring your patience because you're going to need it. - The lifts are slow and are handling a lot of traffic. More patience here. - The doorways to the rooms are oddly small/compact. I had issues bringing a very standard-sized (not large) piece of luggage through it. - The bed was too soft in my opinion. I don't know if it's just sagging due to age or if they actually bought mattresses that sink like that but it definitely wasn't memory foam. - Water pressure in shower was awesome and had plenty of hot water. - Had dinner in their restaurant and my main (Grilled Chicken with Creamy Tarragon Sauce) was exceptional. However, my Lemon Creme Brulee had to be sent back as it was the consistency of soup. - Please know that they will automatically add a 12.5% service charge on the bill. This is OPTIONAL but they do not tell you that. *They provide you with a bus schedule to get to the airport. It is 6.8 pounds per person, but does come to the front door. However, if you go to the bus stop just down the street a few hundred feet, you can ride the 423 (if going to Terminal 5) for 1.75 pounds. I'm not certain why they are promoting a bus that is close to 4X the cost of a normal one."

"If you arrive by public transport the hotel can be a little tricky to find. Otherwise it is an excellent option for anyone travelling to or from terminal 2 and possibly terminal 3. Rooms are comfortable and the staff are very helpful and friendly."

"There was no coffee, even at the restaurant except tiny packets of instant in the room, who likes that! There were no tissues, hand towels or wash cloths, which were needed. The room was hot with no way to cool it, thank goodness I had a tiny personal fan with me that made it bearable. The inside window would open a small amount but the outside window was locked closed, would not open so we could not get any outside air. The hall was considerably cooler than the room. Not an acceptable situation. There was almost no space in the room we had to walk sideways to get around and barely had space for our luggage. The floor of the shower was so slick my husband slipped three times, once his foot hit the side of the shower and hurt, he almost fell, not a good or safe situation. The shower drain cover was broken and sliding around the shower floor. Check in was ok, and the food in the restaurant was good. I will not return to this location."

"Good location to the airport and plenty of parking, although chargeable. Hotel feels run down, room keys are not great, had to go back down to reception to refresh the key as it wouldn’t open the door. Bar was heaving with a tour party staying so had to order room service."
