"I personally do not like to stay in a hotel where the rooms open to the outside as all of these do it reminds me of an old motel that’s been converted into the best Western hotel. The stairwell going up to the second floor was really grimy and needs a good power washing. You do not get a shining welcoming sign as you walk up those dirty cement stairs to your room. "Very clean and nicely updated room. Staff were helpful and friendly. Well equipped workout room. Costco and Trader Joe’s are across the street which made for easy shopping and gas. We didn’t use the pool because it wasn’t heated. Too chilly. If you are noise sensitive, you are as close to highway 101 as you can get so expect traffic noise."

"The Occidental Lodge is a very charming, old-school lodge that is well-maintained and absolutely spotless.
