"The Madera was in a great location. Felt safe. Everything was clean and the rooms were nice and spacious. I did have an issues with having to pay an amenity fee (it may be called something else it's an added daily activity fee), but I didn't want it, need it, or use it. When I asked if they could be removed as I've done at other hotels I was told I could not, so I just left eh bottle of wine in the room. Also, I checked out very early for an early flight and there was no front staff for me to square my bill. That wouldn't have been an issue if they didn't hold 300 hundred dollars. I had to check out without knowing if my final bill was correct which I do not like to do. Other than those administrative issues, I really like the hotel. And I would have stayed there again if not for having to pay that activity fee. "

"Lovely property. It’s not just a boxy room but former small residences from 1926 so our had a mini kitchenette and nice bath and makeup area. They have a bar/restaurant and separate cafe. The food was good quality and the prices were ok. The bar/restaurant is a great smaller 1920s style space that’s great for relaxing. The staff was very courteous and helpful. It’s ala very convenient to George Washington university, a food hall, Whole Foods and a number of restaurants. Parking on the weekend wasn’t too bad as you could valet or park in a nearby self park garage. "

"The staff was phenomenal; especially Estella at the front desk and Michael the concierge. Everyone smiled and acknowledged you when you walked by and were very helpful. A nice little touch was macaroons in our room on check-in. There’s a lovely café for coffee, pastries and sandwiches in addition to two restaurants on site. The rooms were nice and a good size however they could use a little updating with the carpet and the bathroom grout in the shower. Wonderful location, easy to take public transportation I would stay here again. "
