"Well what can I say. Second visit to this fabulous hotel and again I can’t fault it. From the moment you walk in the grand front door, checking in and going to your room it is a delight. Lovely restored old property sympathetically completed without spoiling the grandness. Large bedrooms continue with the grandness. Breakfast, choices extend to salmon dishes with poached eggs etc, alongside the usual buffet style hot options and cereals etc. Looking forward to returning to this magnificent hotel...

"The room was minimalistic with a wet room bathroom and very comfortable bed with quiet surroundings so had a good nights sleep.The breakfast was cooked fresh to customer’s request. No cereals were offered but fruit juice was on the table when we arrived. Overall good value for money and helpful staff. Flowers outside were welcoming."

"Booked last minute, room was ok, could hear the people in the room next door and on hallway. Once they were all quiet it was peaceful and had a good sleep. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. "

"El hotel es muy bonito y tiene estacionamiento (pagado extra) lo cual es conveniente. Puedes caminar a cualquier atracción turística de York. Nos hospedamos en una habitación del segundo piso muy linda y decidimos quedarnos una noche más y el staff nos ayudó a conservar la habitación haciendo la reserva vía expedía. "Lovely welcome on arrival. Rooms were dark inside which was fine for us but could imagine it might be a problem for some. Vanity mirror with lights attached didnt work, and when reported (more to report that we didnt break it, rather than get it fixed) reception was uninterested. Brilliant shower - possibly the best ive used in a hotel. No coffee machine as described but there was a kettle. When we went to get a drink on the rooftop we were welcomed in but not told that last orders was imminent...

"Was disappointed to find that there was no available gym in the hotel, even though it is advertised as such. The sofa bed in the room was broken, as was the air-conditioning. Staff attempted to fix it but didn’t make a difference. When we visited, there was a pile of mattresses sitting in the lobby. Surely there’s a better way to manage this. We shared our complaints with staff at the hotel but they showed little interest so I hope management will take note "

"Fantastic friendly service, characterful property and a pleasant change from a chain hotel. Not right in the centre but only a very safe 6-8min walk from Minster, shops, restaurants etc… Breakfast was outstanding and good value at £16 for juice, coffee, pastry, yogurt and fruit and Eggs Benedict. Full English a bit more, lighter options from £11. Quite a lot of parking outside at £15 a night (good for York) but it’s very tight & I’d advise contacting them to reserve a place. I got the last one...

"No bottled water in room, was told they had none left, which i thought was a bit odd. Also had to ask for toilet roll. Bar selection was limited, not much choice at all. We have stayed there 3 times now and this time it seems likevthe hotel is struggling. "
