"Lovely old hotel in a v quiet location- needs money spending in it but a good place to stay for a night"

"This is a tired hotel. Reception was fine, the walk to our room past chipped paintwork and on faded carpet led to our room which had rusty hinges in the bathroom, a rusty plughole in the sink, and an extractor fan that was not working. On the positive side, comfortable bed. We did not pay a fortune for the room and it was only a one night stay. Just needs a bit of TLC"

The hosts were welcoming and friendly, they made us feel very at home and were very attentive throughout our time. Great location and a short 5 minute drive to Haworth. "This an impotant historic property with fabulous grounds but has been upgraded to a clinical level. Very clean but no soul. Needs aome fwminine touches. Shelving, pictures, hooks etc. No retaurant facilities or breakfast. Basic but adequate"

"Moved from the bull to the shepherds rest as an upgrade prior to arrival. Out of 4 rooms (party of 4), rooms 10 and room 4 no heating. The bull may have better but I’d avoid the shepherds rest. Also none of the TVs worked in any of the 4 rooms and Wi-Fi password not shared. A shame as the rooms were fine even if the showers are a little small. Place was clean and obviously has been invested in. "

"We stayed on one of the warmest nights this year. A fan had been put in our room earlier on to ensure it was lovely and cool. The room was a good size. It was clean and quiet. Very comfortable bed. Parking is a plus. Good food in the pub too."

"Sehr schönes Hotel. Die Zimmer sind sauber und das Essen ist gut. Das Personal ist freundlich. Die Zeit zum einchecken ist mit 14 Uhr angegeben. Musste diesmal fast noch eine Stunde warten bis aufgemacht wurde. War nicht mein erster Aufenthalt dort und werde auch weiterhin dort übernachten."

"Staff were not polite and not helpful after hours"

"Did not like the abscence of humans until breakfast. The cook was obliging in making me a bacon butty for breakfast. The bed was comfy and the hotel was clean but a wee tired."

"Loved the views from the hot tub both day and night. There were 3 very friendly peacocks that wandered around with lots of other farm animals. Great big tv in lounge. Nice bottle of fizz left in fridge as welcome by owner. Definitely recommend this property."

"Room nice and big. Heating good in this cold weather. Clean room / bathroom. Shower could do with updating but ok for a couple of nights. "
