"This is a wonderful place to stay--convenient to the train station and the center of town, but in a quiet area. We stayed twice, before and after hiking in the Lakes District, and stayed in two different rooms. The beds are very comfortable, and both rooms had space for us to spread out. Tip: when it's really hot, the lower floors are cooler! Breakfast is great; we only got the continental, but it comes with porridge or overnight oats, and the menu for full breakfast looked fantastic and Sue...

"Delightful visit to The George and Dragon! Friendly and obliging staff, great pub, room and breakfast. Rooms renovated to a high standard and beautifully furnished. Loved the windows which could be opened to cool the room and bonus bath to relax in. Friendly bar staff when we had a drink in the pub before bed and lovely lady served us at breakfast. Really impressed and highly recommend a stay. 10/10"

"I have nothing to compare it with as this is my first experience of youth hostels in 40 years. I was impressed. I loved the open area, bar and restaurant. The dormitory was excellent. Beds were well spaced, ample plug sockets, mattress & pillows excellent. Clean sheets and super mattress. The bed was as good as any 5 star hotel. Honestly. The shower was clean but a little small. "We stayed only 1 overnight on the way down from scotland. We could see lot of people staying for visiting the lakes. The hotel is in a very nice location. They are also pet friendly and they provided us a towel and a bowl for the dog. We highly recommend both breakfast and set menù dinner which was very nice. Room was clean and bathroom looked recently renewed."
