"Our stay at Shiomachi Roya in Tomonoura was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. I was impressed by the renovations done to turn this old merchant house into an inn. I liked the design and decor. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Because this particular house (Roya) has only 4 rooms to stay in, the staff are located at another sister inn literally just around the corner, one minute away. "It was a fine stay. The room was cool with the projector for viewing and we loved the souvenir machine. We slept comfortably and the hotel was quiet. The room was fairly clean and water pressure was great for the shower. Free bottles of water in the room was nice as well. However the cafe closed early, the ice cream machine wasn't working and the rooftop bar was closed. The property had dust bunnies throughout and staff was sparse which made it feel a bit like a ghost town. "

"Room are small, but that is fine when you travel. The bed is best suited for one or couples. The walk is reasonable from the station roo. Host is also very responsive as we had two back to back reservations and they responded quickly for us to stay in the same room. Would definitely recommend to others."
