"Wonderful place, wonderful people. The staff was so friendly and helpful, as were the other guests. The kitchen and common living space were especially spacious and humongously homey. The only downside was that the road near the close-by fairy pools was filled (unfilled?) with potholes- which really has nothing to do with the hostel and I don’t need to note that in this review. 10/10, I’ll definitely be staying here again next I visit Skye- which is ASAFP (As Soon As Financially Possible)."

"Wonderful hotel - easy to find and very comfortable. Rooms are well appointed and clean. Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were delicious and easy to arrange. Great stay in a beautiful location!"
"For the price of the night, this is a very tired worn down hotel without even a hairdryer in the room.
The staff were lovely however and dinner was a very nice meal"
"I had a very enjoyable stay at the Dunollie Hotel. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and my room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a great selection of food and a beautiful view to enjoy while eating. Overall, everything was very good, and I would happily stay here again."
"Initially annoyed at check-in when the rooms that I paid for were not provided. Booked two Standard Twin rooms, and got two Queen rooms. They were able to separate the beds in one room, but not the other. I was told by the front desk that I would have needed to contact the hotel in advance if I wanted standard TWIN room, which is exactly what I had booked (!). Then one room came with a handicapped bathroom, which normally wouldn't be a concern. But the entire bathroom is an open shower room. Everything gets wet; almost no shelves to place things on; no lighting above the small/low sink. Miserable experience.
The hotel has recently been updated, and everything is nicely refurbished. The new floor to ceiling heating units and bathroom towel heaters were all on upon arrival, so the rooms were unbearable hot (over 80F) with no way to cool the room down.
On the bright side, the restaurant food was incredible."
"Great inn conveniently located within driving distance of the town supermarket and dining areas. Friendly staff. Nice common areas which included an outdoor gazebo overlooking the water from which you could see amazing sunsets. Also a nice lounge/living room area with plenty of board games and books and a large kitchen. Terrific breakfast buffet.
Rooms were comfortable and quiet and spacious. Recommend."
"We hardly had a wink of sleep in the tiny first floor room we were allocated at this pub (I hesitate to call it an hotel) because of the noise from the lively bar below. Even when the pub emptied some time after midnight the disturbance continued as staff quarters were situated directly above us and, once they left the bar, loudly creaking floorboards continued to keep us awake until much later. But when we went down for Sunday morning breakfast at 9.15 we were told it had finished at 9a.m. and, though we had been told on check-in it would be served until 10, the staff were unrelenting. Later I spoke to the manager who promised a refund for their error, but none has been forthcoming.
The whole two-night experience was poor, we could not wait to leave!"
"The staff was very friendly and responsive. The food was very good. The hotel setting/location was a bit of a surprise, but easy walking distance to town. The hotel caters to groups/small tour buses, but then, most Portree hotels probably do as well. Dinner reservations in town are hard to get, so book in advance."
Hostels are a great way to stay for a good value, so you can save your money for going out. The island views create an appealing natural setting, and you can enjoy attractions like the waterfront.
