"A lovely friendly welcome from Michael at reception. All the staff were great. The room was comfortable and had everything I needed. The fan was a definite bonus in the hot weather although the room stayed fairly shaded too. There was some traffic noise but it didn't disrupt my sleep at all (room 16). "Nice room. Breakfast overpriced with no reduction for continental option - we didn't choose this and went to the local cafe! Dinner was a shambles. Clearly a good chef and helpful and hard-working staff .... but spoilt by lack of management and understaffing."

"The staff were extremely helpful and the facilities were excellent. Charlie and his colleagues helped us out with a number of things and nothing was too much trouble. A greater choice of pillows would be good as we found the ones provided were not comfortable ."

"Staff were lovely and although our room wasn’t ready, we were shown to a room available to change in for our visit to York races. Our room wasn’t ready tired looking. The bins hadn’t been emptied from previous clients and the bedside lamps were full of cobwebs. I reported it to staff who thanked me for doing so. There is no lunch or evening meal provision anymore. Can’t comment on breakfast as we didn’t eat Overall this is a really lovely hotel. Warm and welcoming. The walls are thin but...

"Wunderschöne, gemütliche und saubere Unterkunft! Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Es war sehr ruhig und das Frühstück reichhaltig. Unser Elektroauto konnten wir unproblematisch und mit transparentem Preis laden. Die Lage ist sehr gut, da man in 5 Minuten zu Fuß in der Altstadt ist. Wir würden die Unterkunft definitiv erneut buchen."

"Excellent stay at this hotel (2 nights in July). We were especially grateful for the aircon which is far from standard in UK hotels. Everything was of standard you would expect from a property like this. Staff were impressive and the room spacious, tasteful and clean. Will be back on our next visit to the city."
