"The staff was very attentive. They have a laundry room. They don’t serve breakfast nor they have an indoor restaurant. This is a very good hotel just not as impressive as the one in Tokyo or the Ryokan in Hakone."

" The location of the hotel is amazing, right next to a very popular photography spot in Gion. Because of this, expect some noises as there are always photographers outside around the clock. Washer dryer is really convenient. The rooms are very well maintained. Short walk to many stores and shops in Gion. "

Website did not specify some rooms are in basement which they should have told people. Some people do not like to be in basement because there is no real window. It is a little deceiving. "

"Everything was very smooth! A bit small but we didn’t mind. It had all the essentials as well as a washing machine (the drying process was a bit traditional but again we didn’t mind) and the receptionists (especially Hiro) were very accommodating and amazing! "初日は雨でしたが2日目には上がり 目的だった素晴らしいお庭を堪能する事が出来ました。 鯉のぼりが風にたなびく中、桜が終わった後の新緑が美しく、シャガや菖蒲…奥の竹林には若竹が伸びている姿を発見し、移りゆく日本の四季を感じる事が出来嬉しかったです。つがいの鳩、雀、シラサギ…水の音も心地良く、心満たされました。 レストランなどのサービスに関しましては 個人の見解ではありますが日本のきめ細やかなサービスと言うよりは、海外でのサービス、と感じました。 とは言え施設、お料理、アメニティなど素晴らしく、何よりお庭を目当てにまた伺いたいと思いました。 ありがとうございました。"

"The Junei Hotel in Higashiyama was one of the most beautiful and classy hotels that we ever stayed!! The hotel room was so special, and truly zen!! (with zen like music playing in the room). The staff was so kind, helpful and professional! The Japanese Breakfasts were the most elegant breakfasts we’ve ever had. They were so thoughtfully prepared and served!! The location was excellent! We’d highly recommend Junei Hotel in Higashiyama!!!"

"I liked the cute boutique vibe of this hotel. The building itself is small; however, our room was spacious for two people, and included a little nook to sit. The hotel’s amenities on the main floor were also nice and helpful if needed. The staff are friendly and were always willing to help."

"Room is big with 2 beds that could fit 2 persons each so me and my daughter slept comfortably. However, had the beds been a western single there could be more floor space for luggage and walking. Our bidet was faulty (runs out of water quickly so button had to be pressed often) but I didn’t let that bother me. Location is very convenient, in front of a major street, making me feel like a local but close/walkable to a lot of tourist sites. Lots of convenience stores around and bus stops are 1-2...

"This was in a great location, close to lots of great things to do. But the street traffic was loud, the construction across the street was loud, the sound of other residents in other rooms was loud. Our room was the double bunk beds and the beds were very creaky and loud. Every motion in the upper bunk created a lot of noise for sleeping below. Sleeping with all the surrounding noise was very challenging "
