"Clean single room for an overnight stay, the hotel is literally opposite the railway station and Piece Hall and town centre are a short walk away. Staff friendly and helpful. Some of the fixtures and fittings could do with some tic perhaps, but the rates are very reasonable and the bed was comfortable. Some rooms face a busy road so some traffic noise, but not too bad. Would stay again."

"Moved from the bull to the shepherds rest as an upgrade prior to arrival. Out of 4 rooms (party of 4), rooms 10 and room 4 no heating. The bull may have better but I’d avoid the shepherds rest. Also none of the TVs worked in any of the 4 rooms and Wi-Fi password not shared. A shame as the rooms were fine even if the showers are a little small. Place was clean and obviously has been invested in. "

"Continental breakfast was good and staff were very helpful. The rooms are a bit outdated, stayed in a double room on the ground floor. And they do need to dust the furniture in the room. Bathroom was modern looking and clean like it had a refurbishment. Staying on the ground floor was a bit noisy at times with doors closing etc and hearing the bar and staff entrance door opening and closing. Overall good values for money and nice to have Co-op and Tesco nearby. Plus the Italian restaurant...

"Apart from my room which was warm and comfortable but lacked a bath towel, with only a shampoo and a very little round soap being provided, the whole place seemed sad and lonely. The Reception was poorly lit and signed, and was cold and damp; I appeared to be one of only two guests staying on the Saturday night and the guests in the room next to mine kept their television on until 5.15am and periodically seemed to drop something heavy on the floor. "This place is fine, but not great. Whilst it has lots of character, the weak and unpredictable shower was a definite detractor for me, and the bed was oddly short so me feet were off the end. Rooms were well appointed, but a few dubious carpet stains made sure you knew they'd been occupied before."

"The hotel is lovely and well situated. We had a suite which can accommodate a family of 5. The pool was nice and clean (but water was a little on the cooler side). There were floats and noodles the kids could use as aids. The gym and sauna are nice but we didn’t get to use them. The room service menu is good and well ranging. Not many staff on reception at check out."
