Top Matlock Hotel Reviews
The Family Tree
10/10 Excellent
"A lovely stay in a quiet, well maintained property. Rooms were immaculately clean, with a great welcome pack containing a selection of teas, coffees, and hot chocolate. Slept incredibly well, beds were comfortable and rooms quiet. Staff all friendly and helpful, as were the owners. Breakfast in the morning was excellent, with a large range of options. There is nothing in the evening within easy walking distance, but thatโs not a problem as parking at the property is more than sufficient and thereโs plenty of options within a few minutes drive. Loved our stay."
Oakhill
10/10 Excellent
"What beautiful property this is the grounds are very lovely and peaceful with gardens that are very well maintained, the rooms are just perfect, comfortable, clean cozy, the staff are brilliant helpful warm and nothing is too much for them. Would highly recommend staying and the restaurant is just brilliant great menu without the massive price tag food and choices are great. The breakfast is also fantastic and included in the room price."
The Beeley Inn
8/10 Good
"Hotel is a nice building (set of buildings) in a gorgeous, quiet village (other than the hotel / bar). Our room was over the bar and whilst there was some noise, it wasnโt too loud. The bedrooms are good rather than stunning and have a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, nice biscuits and fresh milk (hooray). Our room had a shower but no bath. Breakfast was very good. Staff were friendly and professional. We were happy with the stay, but left feeling it was a bit expensive for what it was."
High Tor Hotel
8/10 Good
"Brilliant location! Hotel could do with some TLC but donโt let this put you off! Mould in bathroom, but that was ok as only there for 1 night. Chocolates and slippers were a lovely touch. Nice quiet room - no complaints !"
The Fountain Tea Rooms B&B
10/10 Excellent
"Well equipped well decorated double room in quite location . Friendly welcome staff and owner are lovely nothing to much trouble. Two pubs within 5 mins walking distance. For walkers plenty to do around the area coming back for lunch at the fountain tea rooms a good choice"
Hodgkinson's Hotel
8/10 Good
"Overall, very positive. I'll come on to the Good Stuff in a bit, but first... When I arrived (at the time I said I would when booking) the hotel door was locked and it looked deserted. I called the number I found for it on Google, and a harassed sounding woman said I should have received a message telling me how to get in. (I had received many messages from Expedia claiming to be from the hotel, but all were blank. This is almost certainly a problem with Expedia, not the hotel itself.) She came round and let me in, gave me the key, then went back to (presumably) her other job at the amusement arcade. I then discovered my room was at the front, facing the busy main road, not at the back as I'd booked. But the poor woman who'd come to rescue me had sounded so pressured that I didn't feel I could summon her back again, so I made do. That said... the double glazing (admittedly on a slightly dodgy sash window) kept out the worst of the noise, and everything else about the room was great. A lovely Victorian-style decor, good spacious ensuite, plentiful tea and coffee, etc. The next morning, the friendly staff served me a HUGE Full English. Very welcome with a day's cycling and work ahead! And they let me store my bike in the lounge. So, lots of good things. But Oh for the days when hotels had at least one member of staff on site to greet you on arrival. I know costs are high and staff are hard to find, but it would be so much more welcoming!"
The Old Lockup
10/10 Excellent
"The owner Tim, is a very nice man, there was nothing that was too much trouble for him. He is a brilliant chef, the breakfast was fantastic. If we are in this area again, we would not hesitate to stay again at the Old Lockup. Highly recommended."
The Red Lion
10/10 Excellent
"The breakfast and dinner were excellent (both choice and quality). Staff were very helpful and friendly. Location is not busy and gives good access to Peak District Our room was exposed to talk from late night pub customers, though."
Gulliver's Resort Matlock Bath
10/10 Excellent
"Everything was perfect my o ly negative was it was advertised as having fridge and there was not one in the room"
