"English breakfast is excellent. Staff is very friendly. The shower screen is only half way so water sprays outside to the wall and floor. "Great location minutes away from cafés, pubs and eateries. Funicular virtually next door. Lovely old hotel, clean and full of character though indeed of a little tlc. We were made very welcome and our rooms were upgraded at no extra cost with amazing views across the valley. Very dog friendly and would definitely stay there again. Thank you. "

"Booked as got stuck on the A303, nice staff, great breakfast and hard to argue with the price. My only minor criticism is being 6’3 the light they’d fitted to the single room was basically at face height so I cracked my head a couple of times getting in and out of bed. Otherwise would recommend for a cheap stay."

"It has only been 2 months since my last stay here and it was as good as ever. Staff as always were really friendly and make you feel at home. "Check in was advertised at 3.00pm, arrived at 4.50pm but room was not available & hadn't been cleaned as the cleaner didn't turn up? Menu was reduced as the chef didn't turn up either and no toilet rolls in the bathroom. I gave my breakfast order the night before but it was not passed onto the cover chef in the morning, so in all not a great experience but...would I stay there again...definitely yes.
