Great location and very nice rooms

The hotel was just below the train station but it was still very quiet. The rooms were updated and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with a variety of hot and cold foods. We walked down the hill to dinner, sightseeing and shopping and took the tram up. Transportation was free because of the pass the hotel gives you. Excellent place to stay!

Warm and friendly staff which went out of their way to make us feel wanted. Hotel Certaldo is within walking distance to Funicular for excellent food and spectacular views of country side. It also provides eary access to surrounding area including Carrara, Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano and Volterra. Its a hidden gem

Most of the shops and restaurants are downhill so you’ll have a steep climb back to the hotel. Very close to everything and accommodations are very nice with complementary breakfast buffet. Would stay again.

We stayed at Federale Lugano for 2 nights. It is very close to the train station, and easy to get to by taking Funicular from the train station to Cathedral stop. Room wasn’t big but very comfortable and clean, bathroom was really small but it didn’t bother us. Best part was the staff - very nice and kind, always smiling. Breakfast was very good - juice, coffee, eggs, yogurt, fresh bread etc. We also had dinner at their restaurant and enjoyed the food and service. Will be willing to stay there again.

I love the idea of Hotel Federale. It is an old Lugano hotel with many of the original design features still in place. It is close to the old town, the train station, and to the lake, just a short walk away. The bathroom was tiny and the shower had mildew in some cracks and crevices. The bed was comfortable. There was air conditioning. Considerating all the other places we stayed this was okay but not the best

The staff were very friendly. Our room including the bathroom was exceptionally clean. Disposable slippers and still and sparkling water were provided with a surprise. Though the room was a bit pricey, I would still highly recommend it to anyone who would like to stay with a walkable distance to Lugano Station.

Location and staff were great. The walls are thin so it was pretty noisy because of the loud guests. Obviously the hotel can’t do much about that. The location and friendly staff made it a super pleasant stay.

Loved being just a bit removed from the madding crowd. From our room (corner with a wrap-around balcony), we had the most stunning view imaginable of the city and lake below. It was a wonderful experience.

This is a lovely hotel with lovely staff and a nice breakfast. The rooms we had (we stayed twice) had lovely views of the lake. The only word of advice I can give is that getting there from the train station was kind of confusing. It's close to the train station but the one road we thought we could use was closed, so getting there was a bit of a challenge.

This was a lovely and well maintained hotel. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean. The hotel has a lovely courtyard where you can enjoy breakfast, and it’s walking distance from the main train station and down the hill from the main shopping and dining area in Lugano. We really enjoyed our stay there.

Nice staff and hotel is right on perfect location. You can walk down from Lugano station. Breakfast is good. Shopping is walking down from hotel and the area is centralized. Will stay here again.
