"This was my first time staying at the Showboat, and honestly, if it weren’t for my godson’s birthday, my husband and I probably wouldn’t have chosen this hotel.
I was on the renovated side, and even that was underwhelming. While the room was a decent size, it felt cold, bare, and cheaply put together. Minimal furniture, no warmth, and an overall lack of attention to detail. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, which made it difficult to get proper rest.
In comparison, my godson’s parents stayed on the non-renovated side, and their room was noticeably less appealing.
I didn’t have much interaction with staff beyond check-in, but that experience was smooth and professional.
There were several downsides that would prevent me from staying here again. First, the hotel felt overcrowded with children, I get it, it's a kid friendly hotel. Too many for me, and the elevator wait times were longer than expected. Second, the smell of marijuana was unavoidable, even inside our room. That alone is unacceptable for any hotel trying to maintain a decent standard. I would rather spend more money elsewhere for a cleaner, more ccontrolled eionally, the food stand should have extended hours—closing earlier in the evening doesn’t make sense when guests are still active. Midnight would be more reasonable.
The arcade area also needs attention. Many of the games were broken, the bowling wasn’t working, and the roller rink was closed. For a place that caters to families, these issues are disappointing"
