If I can give you one tip about visiting Maui, it would be forget the Road to Hana. Drive west up Maui's north shore on the Road to Kahakuloa for twice the danger, ten times better scenery, and one percent of the crowds.

Only one issue. Avoid the rooms on Northside that overlook Whalers Village. Very loud with 5am garbage trucks, 6am delivery trucks, and you can literally here the restaurants scoping ice from the 8th floor.
