"This was a very comfortable hotel lots of space in the 2 bdrm suite but I didn’t quite like how far the pool was. And the pool area didn’t feel clean enough."
"The beach is the best. Just about all negative aspects of the property are measured against the gorgeous water and wonderful beach. The room was a bit dated. Carpet looked tired, small roaches in bathroom sink area. The fat foam pillows are uncomfortable. They also put us in a room for disabled individuals but we were too tired to argue after three flights and a long rental drive at that point. The buffet is very good and staff are excellent. We don’t spend a lot of time in the room so no big deal in the room critique. BUT at 1k per day for a suite, it’s worth mentioning the rooms look tired."
"The Hamakua was amazing. It was everything you could want in a boutique hotel. The grounds are beautiful and immaculately kept. The every room has an incredible view of gardens overlooking the Pacific. The staff, Belle and Sabrina were the best,

"Really enjoyed my stay. Lovely property with lots of amenities including laundry, swimming pool, koi pond, gym, water refill station, courtyard, and 24/7 community/coworking room. Location with easy parking and convenient to restaurants and things to do. Also close to the airport, but it’s not super busy so the noise wasn’t really disruptive. Room was clean and comfortable. Only issue was the bath tub — I realized too late that the cold water faucet in the tub was completely busted, but the front desk helped make up for it when I checked out. I’d definitely stay again."

"My stay here was excellent and the staff were so friendly and helpful. This will be my first option next time I stay in Hilo. Rooms were comfortable, a/c was nice and cold, good WiFi in the rooms. Loved the blackout curtains. My family and I were very comfortable staying here."
"It is an excellent resort. Staff members are friendly and helpful. Room is spacious. At the end of my stay, there was a cockroach running in the bathroom."
