"This place was the cheapest option in the area, and you get what you pay for. Cons: room quality was substandard, with worn-out walls and decor and non-functioning outlets; shower water pressure was low. Pros: air conditioning worked superbly, beds were comfortable (if you like a firm mattress), room and hotel were quiet. Place worked OK for solo traveler last-minute crash pad needs."

"After seeing the photos, I booked 3days, for my business trip. New Owners have turned the old Harbor Bay Inn into a “Go To” place for a simple, well appointed room. Every room is remodeled (less than 6month as of this review 6-2026). Everything is new! Not just refreshed or painted over. Very impressed. If you need to stay in the TRIANGLE SQUARE area of Costa Mesa/Newport Beach, give it consideration. By end of year, all exterior will be completed, new Signage and Logos will be added, as the parking lot will have a fresh coat of asphalt. I will definitely return."

"I have stayed at Ayres properties many times over the last 20 years. My company also has an account with Ayres Alisio Viejo. This property in Costa Mesa needs an uplift. The carpets are old and filthy and need replacement. The elevator was hardly running. $24 per day for parking now?? The restaurant food was, unfortunately, quite bad. We counl not eat it. We probably will not be returning again. I can remember when it was family owned and much pride was taken to maintain the Hotel(s). What a shame."

"The room was nice but the floor was dirty. Couldn't tell until after a shower, when you feel it on your feet. The TV showed that there was no internet. When we spoke with the front desk, they stated it was affecting the whole hotel. Funny, their computers and TV in the lobby worked. Humm. The shower water was kinda warm one day but the next day, it ran for 20 minutes and was still cool. When we checked out, we told the front desk and all they asked was, "Did you tell anyone?" My husband stated that the TV issue had been brought up Friday, and Saturday, then again upon checkout. The water was only an issue Sunday, but that is when it was addressed. The breakfast is extremely lacking. There were some packaged pastries, juice, and 1 waffle maker for the whole hotel. Not even worth the time to wait for a waffle. Location was good, and bed was comfortable."
