"This hotel is a typical English pub hotel best suited to those with a car. We had requested a ground floor room but were allocated an upstairs room on arrival. However, this was changed by the receptionist and the room we got was fine. It was a good size and looked out on the bar courtyard, fortunately quiet as it was cold and wet outside. The bathroom was fine and bed comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and the evening meals were good."

"This hotel is a typical English pub hotel best suited to those with a car. We had requested a ground floor room but were allocated an upstairs room on arrival. "I had travelled all day, finally got to the hotel 845pm to find out food stopped at 830pm I. spoke to the front of house but he just told me that there was no food served after 830pm, not even a few chips. (seems very early). Then I approached the bar, as I thought I would have a liquid dinner ( a few beers) and then head to bed. I picked up the drinks menu and spotted bottles of Peroni, which is my favourite beer. I thought happy days, this makes up for the lack of food. I ordered the beer. However, the bar man proceeded to tell me that they have discontinued beer from their menu. First time I've been to a bar that doesnt sell beer. I gave up and went to bed, hungry and with out a beer night cap. I woke up the next morning, very hungry due to missing dinner. As I approached the hot buffet I could only see Sausages and Scrambled eggs. There was no bacon, beans, hash browns, black or white pudding etc. There was hot broccoli but I wasnt after a Sunday roast. I ate 2 sausages which were poor and some slimy Scrambled egg and made my way down the road to find some decent grub. Very dissapointed with facilities on site. Hotel looks very clean and modern with a spa also. But for me its all about the basics not the luxuries."

"The hotel in general was very good. Just personally, we had a few issues Our main issue is that the hotel. It's so big with long hallways and lots of steps, considering we have a child in a Pram and lots of luggage it was so exhausting to carry everything from the car park to walk across to the hotel. And then find your room. Its hell of a long walk with steps. When we arrived, they gave us a room on the top floor with loads of steps, and the windows barely opened. So we complained and changed the room. But the problem were, the lifts wasn't working? So we had to carry the baby. The luggage and the Pram up-and-down the stairs. It was so exhausting and very, very far to walk to the car park when we were leaving I would say it's not toddler friendly, so any parents with buggies not recommended The stuff are very helpful and friendly. Everything was okay. The rooms was clean The pool was very nice, considering they close early which we wasn't impressed with it The food menu on the bar was limited I hope it helps some parents"

"Great stopover near M1 really decent food and drink good breakfast overall good experience only downside could hear upstairs flat when he came in and got up for early morning jog maybe blackout blinds for window and door glass other than that all good would definitely use again staff all very friendly and pleasant"

"After a long journey from Devon, we were met with a warm welcome at reception with keys and directions to Pheasant Lodge. The grounds we viewed as we headed in were immaculately kept with a large lake/pond with good fishing platforms in place. Brent geese and ducks had already moved in. A good play area, with some distance from the first lodge, looked safe and well maintained. The peace and expanse of this lovely spot, with 'work in progress' for a restaurant/cafe/shop, makes it definately, 'one to watch'. A good solid parking bay and our first view of the hot tub, with trellis screen covered in artificial ivy, for extra privacy, to the side of the lodge, was a welcome sight! The Lodge itself was spotlessly clean, with good furniture throughout. We were using both the double bedroom, which was very comfortable, with plugs in all the right places. A recess with open wardrobe gave extra space to store cases etc. The bathroom was between the 2 bedrooms, with a good shower and plenty of hot water. The heating was very efficient. We arrived on a cold, windy and wet day and were soon as warm as toast, comfortable..and reading instructions to use the hot tub! A nice deck to the front, with views over the lake and woods, would have been a nice place to relax, if it hadn't been for the weather. We did brave the hot tub - but the icy wind, when getting in and out, wasn't pleasant, however - soon forgotten once in the water! Excellent stay all round and great hosts!"
