"The Grand Hotel is a beautiful hotel in a great location. The room (a triple / family room) was clean and convenient. The fans in the room (in the midst of a heatwave) and the water dispenser in reception were great touches. We were initially impressed with the proactive communication prior to our visit. However, the code we were given (twice) for the NCP wouldn't work on arrival and we were told by NCP it had expired in March 2026. On raising this with Barbara at reception, we received a shrug...

"On arrival my husband was given a door key card not the actual key that was actually needed. He was stuck outside the room on the second floor because had had all the luggage and didn't want to lug it back downstairs. Room was very hot with no view but fortunately had a fan. Bed was comfortable and TV reception was very poor. Best I can do was our stay was 2 star.🙂‍↕️"

"Very friendly staff, lovely bar and food, walkable to town and beaches"

"The property is well located and within easy walking distance to the beach and centre of Whitby. Bill was there on arrival to welcome us and had an information sheet for check in with the key being in a key safe. Parking was not ideal and had to drive around for @ 10 mins to find an on street parking place which was several streets away from the accommodation. "Room was clean although some area in bathroom need touching up. It was satisfactory for our short stay & reasonably priced. Staff welcoming on arrival. Great to have pub next door to get breakfast & dinner when needed."

"Furniture and fittings very antiquated. Bedding very old and worn, bed linen did not look clean and fresh. Bathroom shower looks as if mould growing around base, not hot water to the basin, towels very worn and ruff. Breakfast very poor, left on landing to help yourself, cereal and fruit only not worth the payment charged. Parking not easy and very limited particularly for the larger car. Expedia stated only one room left that clearly was not the situation. Definitely not value for money."

"We loved our stay here. They are in the middle of renovations and we paid for a cheaper room that hadn't been renovated fully yet. We were a little worried it would be grotty or quite dated since the pictures on the website for those rooms weren't great, but the rooms were actually pretty nice. The hotel is beautiful and the grounds are amazing with breathtaking views. The restaurant is great. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Also it's lovely to see all the birds about the property...
