"The Peace Lodge is a tranquil escape. There are not very many rooms, so the grounds are quiet. You get the opportunity to walk through the animal sanctuary on the grounds. The resort dog Rusty was very friendly and a welcome sight. The menus were on the expensive side and some more affordable options would be welcome, but the quality of the food was excellent."

"This was a wonderful first stop on our vacation as is it was midway betweeen San Jose and La Fortuna. "We stayed here on our last night in Costa Rica so we could be close to the airport. The family that runs this is so lovely. It's a quiet spot with a beautiful property. It was gorgeous waking up to one final view of the landscape through the giant single-pane window in the room. They recommended a great seafood spot in town for dinner and drove us to the airport in the morning. "

"The Poas Volcano Lodge is a magnificent piece of architecture. The rooms are huge, the beds and other furnishings are all top quality, and the woodwork is very impressive. The common areas are grand and inviting, the grounds are verdant with a few impressive sculptures. The off-season rates are very reasonable. We loved it! The one area that has room for improvement is the restaurant. Although the staff was very friendly, the meals were average at best. There seemed to be poor communication between the front desk and the restaurant staff regarding pre-ordered breakfast."
