My room so I could visit my mentaly handicapped br
My stay was comfortable although I’d wished there had been a bit more in the room ie kettle facilities so I could of had a drink the map I was given was very badly printed as I’m elderly I couldn’t read it apart from that they were very friendly and the security was absolutely wonderful I had to end my stay early as my sister died and I just wanted to get home my brother lives 10 minutes from where I was staying it was very convenient but not the best

Nice place to stay
rooms are basic , clean
Can use common kitchen for making tea or coffee
I was very happy with the room itself and the price I paid for it booking only couple of days beforehand. Nice and fresh with lots of storage and a clean ensuite bathroom I'd compare the facilities to Travelodge or Ibis(but no TV). However. This being a university campus, it was A bit difficult to find and park in the correct place and was quite a walk to reception and the actual room. Got given a map of the campus and had to find the room myself. Not the easiest task with a luggage -just Keep that in mind. Also I guess my timing wasn't great as all the students returning to uni after the summer holiday's meant lot's of noise and partying at night - not a quiet place to sleep for sure (thanks God for earplugs) - but it might be quieter during the school holidays.
Would I stay again at the price? Probably yes given I couldn't find anything else. P.s. the grounds are fantastic with a nice park and lovely lakes and lots of benches to sit down and enjoy the surroundings.

Where do I start? The booking for the room came with no (zero) information on how to locate the room within the entire university. This is a big campus, and you will be provided with no information apart from an incorrect, utterly useless postcode.
I started with the first head office which was near the (incorrect) postcode, but they directed me to the other end of the campus, to another head office, which I couldn't find. Because of roadworks, this was a 10 minute drive away. I did find the security office, who were very helpful & said that "they get people asking all the time". The pleasant security lady took me to an obscure office door which apparently was where I was supposed to be.
The (also helpful) person in this office then directed me back to the first end of the campus to my dormitory. The room itself was bare minimum but served the purpose, and was clean and tidy.
How difficult would it be for someone at the university to create a welcome sheet that explains how to get to the (appropriate) office? I was provided a postcode which turned out to be useless. It took me about an hour to finally get my car parked in the appropriate carpark (another 10 minute drive)and my bag into the room.
On campus there are plenty of eating places, and a fairly well equipped gym, all within 10 minutes walk from my room.
Would I stay again? Probably not. But at least if I do, next time I'll know the routine instead of feeling like I'm a contestant on some reality tv challenge!
Basic functional ensuite accommodation. Good wifi and shower, clean. Check-in very awkward and more information needs to be provided on where exactly to go for this. Also had expected shower gel and tea and coffee facilities, so remember to bring your own. Very good buses to/from town and to Clacton and elsewhere.
The only fault I could find is the actual finding of the property. The postcode provided takes you to the main car park which is quite a way from where you collect your keys and then further still to the property. I would advise to call before hand to find out the closest parking. The room was spotless and the bed was comfy. Staff were really friendly and very helpful.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
Bathroom held together with duct tape
Loo didn't flush consistently. Shower needed mending
Key fob didn't work, had to keep running back and forth from my room to reception until I had a fob that worked, when I had one that finally worked it didn't when I returned on Saturday and had to get another fob so I could enter my block and room which had No TV and No kettle which meant was unable to make a cup of tea or porridge for breakfast.

DIRECTIONS: The reception is in the main square area and on maps as 'Event Essex'. To get here, you should park at 'Car Park B' by 'Essex Sport Gym'.
The room is fine and cheap, you should expect this. You can park right outside to unload, then park the car 100m away. The reception was near impossible to find and I had no idea where to park for it. This really needs to be explained before arrival. The phone number provided was closed. The corridor stank so thickly of smoke that I found it hard to breathe and I'm not asthmatic. The food options were minimal, terrible, overpriced, unhealthy and one morning there was a stench of sewage while I ate. However, the staff were friendly, the kitchens good, it is easy to get to and the room was good.
The property is well spaced out over a large area. Therefore it means a 10 minute walk to reception, 10 mins to accommodation, 5 mins back to car park. There are hills and stairs. The accommodation is basic, but quite adequate. As it is only available during Summer, there are not many people at the University and the internet speed is excellent!
The doors tend to slam, but overall it was a good experience

Essex University Campus- Colchester. Good VFM
This is Campus accommodation. The price reflects what you get, whilst saying that, it was value for money. A very friendly team upon arrival who were most helpful. The room is campus accommodation, so dont go expecting Egyptian Cotton bedding, welcome trays, televisions etc. The important thing was that it was extremely clean, the bed comfortable, safe and secure. The campus has a number of facilities for dining and bars together with a number of various shops. Car parking within easy walking distance. Good power supply for my computer and free Wi Fi. All in all it offers good value for money against what else was available in the area. If i was in the area again I would book it again.
