"What used to be a beautiful building is now in a terrible state. It is in desperate need of a refurbishment and a good clean. It’s in a terrible state and the public areas are worn, tatty and dirty. The breakfast was inedible, badly cooked and cold items were stale. Bed was comfortable and clean, bathroom functional but dated. Staff really lovely and trying their best in very difficult conditions."

"5 Star luxury from start to finish. Beautiful location and parking was so easy. The property itself must of just had a refurbishment as the room was fantastic. Fellow guests were welcoming especially when chatting at the front of the building. Local people actually visit the front of the hotel and chat to guests. Didn’t make it to the pool however the bath in the room was the size of a swimming pool."

"We stayed during the hottest May on record, and the AC system in the rooms was not operational as we were informed by the front desk, that this functionality is only switched on for summer. As the room windows only open a few inches, it made for a hot and uncomfortable few nights stay."

"I recently stayed in a Superior Double Room and was disappointed by the overall experience, particularly considering the premium rate charged. The room itself was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the hotel benefits from a large free car park, which was appreciated. However, several aspects fell well below what I would expect from a superior room. The room felt somewhat dated, and attention to detail was lacking. Only one teaspoon was provided despite there being two mugs in the room....

"This property is being refurbished and during the day there is constant noise of drilling and banging. The walls of my room were vibrating from the drilling which seemed to be directly above. I received no advance warning of this work and it is not detailed in Expedia’s information about the place. The work starts promptly at 8.30 in the morning although Iheard builders moving around and talking at around 6.50am, which is unacceptable. In addition, there was no hot water on my second morning....
