Room was not available when we tried to check in at 5:30 pm. Reserved and prepaid for a 1 bedroom. Was told there was a “maintenance issue”. We could wait 30-45 minutes while housekeeping cleaned it or take a much smaller room with Mariott points - which I don’t use. Opted to wait. Waited over an hour in the reception area. Couple apparently kept the room late - we were told they were Mariott members so they qualified for late checkout at 4:00 pm. But WHY allow someone to checkout at 4:00 pm when check in for that room is 4:00 pm? Does not make sense to me. I don’t think the couple wanted to change rooms and hoped we would accept a small room. After over an hour we were able to get into the room - about 6:45 pm. Guy who had the room late came and knocked on our door at 9 PM. Said he left something in a kitchen drawer under utensils and wanted to get it back. I let him in to get it. He apologized for the room not being ready and said “I thought they would move our things.” What???? Soda bed is broken. Bottom feet would not straighten so daughter slept on incline. Room is VERY noisy. Bed not so comfortable. I usually love Mariott. Terrible disappointment here.
