Hotel Dekat beach near Spruce Point Road

"DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL!! We “supposedly” had reservations to this place and when we got there they aren’t even open!! 8:30pm with 3 children in the car. New renovations taking place. New beds in the hallways looking through the door trying to find someone they don’t even have a front desk because it’s being remodeled. I’m ok with the remodel but what I will not tolerate is being scammed by the hotel for saying they have rooms and selling through Expedia when clearing they don’t have rooms...

"The room was fine, but we hadn’t expected to have to walk up stairs to get to our room in a three floor facility. Although it was only a half flight, it was inconvenient. Also, breakfast was not included in the price. There was a good breakfast available near by."

It was a special adventure and the staff tried to work with us to help us enjoy our visit after arriving very late at night for a one night /one day stay. We knew nothing about the inn or the island's history so it was a leap of faith and well worth it."

When we tried to call the front desk, the phones in the room didn’t work. But the front desk was very kind when we walked in to ask for a clean room, and tried to help switch rooms. We were sort of made to feel like that wasn’t possible but zero chance of staying in a filthy room. Would definitely not stay here again until housekeeping is addressed."

"Make sure you ask for a room away from the railroad. Our window was literally 25 feet from the railroad track. Although the front desk lady told us the train doesn’t pass at night, it did three times from 9 pm to 7 am, and the one at 4 am blew its horn when passing."

"I appreciate having a handicap bathroom. The tub had a teak folding bench which was hard to put down and close the shower curtain, too. The tub surface was very slippery so I put a towel down to stand on in the shower. The valve was hard for me to set on warm without scalding or freezing but I figured it out. There was a compact frig in the room that did not get cold when plugged in. I mentioned it to a worker who said he would check it out. I understood no frig or microwave in room, but a...
